SAN Training Curriculum

Storage Essentials
An understanding of fundamental storage concepts is crucial to successful SAN implementation. This class covers basic, non-SAN storage technologies such as disk drives; backup hardware and software; optical drives; file systems; volume managers; and RAID technology.

SAN Concepts and Architecture
Our one-day crash course is designed for technical people who need a better understanding of SAN technology than that which is available in the books and magazines. This class is recommended for consultants, systems engineers, and anyone who needs to recommend, specify, or approve SAN technology purchases.

Fibre Channel SANs
This two-day technical lecture on fibre channel SAN technology (taught in partnership with Infinity I/O) is designed for those who need a good understanding of the technical underpinnings of fibre channel SANs. The class covers Fibre Channel Arbitrated Loop (FC_AL), switched fabric, SAN components, addressing, classes of service, and many other fibre channel concepts in depth.

SAN Hands-On Laboratory Training
This class-taught in partnership with Infinity I/O-combines lectures and hands-on lab exercises to help students gain experience in the practical aspects of building and configuring a SAN. Students build their own fabric SAN from the ground up using a wide range of equipment from a variety of vendors.

Instructor-Led Open SAN Lab
Use our equipment or bring in equipment of your own in this open, self-guided lab course. Our instructor will assist you in performing your own tests, experiments and configurations in our SAN lab.

Legato Celestra Training Class
Legato's serverless backup product allows users to perform fast, low-impact backups of their mission-critical servers. This class combines lectures and hands-on labs to teach students how to specify, design, configure, and use Legato Celestra in their own environments.

Legato SmartMedia Training Class
Legato SmartMedia is a centralized media management system that allows multiple servers to share access to backup devices such as tape drives and tape libraries. This technology, called "dynamic drive sharing," is particularly valuable in a SAN. Our class uses a mixture of lectures and hands-on labs to teach students how to implement SmartMedia at their own sites.
